'Emerging Church' is a term for expressing the need for new forms of church that relate to changing culture.

Why is there diversity in worship? Why will there always be diversity in worship?
1. Changes in theology [understandings of God, church, salvation]
2. Changes in the church’s relationship to culture
3. Changes in the way people view/practice spirituality/piety

For the Early church, communion/Eucharist was more associated with community than personal reception of the elements.
