why I watch Idol

I am not a long time follower of the show. I can't tell you who has won every year [Kelly Clarkson....grey-haired guy....]. I watched it last week for the first time beginning to end [2 hour episode]. I was hooked.
Reasons why I like it:
1. the people have no shame
2. the people can't sing
3. Simon
4. all these people like music [I said nothing about knowing anything about it]
5. Simon
6. people who can't sing....like watching a car wreck...you're disgusted, but can't turn away

8. you get to hear a lot of pop music, a lot of which I'm not familiar with
9. the wackos....people who think that being crazy/quirky/odd will get them on the show...it's the Gong Show of the 21st Century

Yeah, I pretty much only think it's worth watching during the first couple of weeks. Before it turns into a real contest. But then, the pit musicians put everone on stage and in the judges seats to shame, which is enjoyable.
