catholic night

I didn't plan it this way, but this is how it turned out. While Margo was out, I watched The Mission. It was a very good movie. I really liked the imagery of Robert DeNiro's character carrying his penance up the waterfall. The movie is a story about Jesuit missionaries in South America.

Then I watched a documentary film on PBS called Hand of God. You can actually watch the whole program on the website. "A moving, and frankly told story of a family's confrontation with the church that betrayed them, and how they survived it all with their humanity and humor intact." The Catholic church are major bad guys in this one.

The irony is, in order to pay the large settlements after the abuse scandal, the archdiocese closed the family's church and sold the property in order to finance the legal settlements.
