it's getting harder
to come up with original, unique, informative, creative, engaging posts. I'm beginning to think that Mr. Kiwi may have a good idea. He is taking a blog fast for the whole month of Sept.
Aparently he is a consultant for the BGCT which is very interesting to me. I've got some issues with their "definition" of worship...
Music and Worship exists to encourage and assist churches and associations of
churches in fulfilling the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ. Through a
diversity of Church Music opportunities we assist churches and associations of
churches in establishing, conducting, enlarging, improving and sharing a Music
Ministry in the local church and community.
Not much about God in that. Just helping start and contribute to church ministry programs. I seriously dislike the idea of worship music only serving the purpose of "fulfilling the Great Commission." The reality is, the Great Commission is a FINITE task. The commission will be fulfilled one day in history. Then what? What will worship music do then? Will it have to find a new purpose other than fulfilling the Great Commission? That's why the main purpose of worship music should always be to glorify and magnify Christ. That's it! Because God's glory and magnification will always be needed, from here to eternity. "Worthy is the Lamb" will be the only song that lasts forever.
