recording day 1
I left the house at 8 am this morning, and didn't get home till 8:00 pm. I didn't set foot outside the church/studio in those 12 hours. Grueling, but productive. We got 5 songs of bass & drums tracked. Here is Jay dropping it Old School.
We also got the 2 piano parts recorded. One was for "Nothing But the Blood" my bluesy, 'Nawlins arrangement. We used this upright and a Royer ribbon mic to get a real unique sound:
The other piano part was done on our Kawai baby grand for the song "Labor of Love" by Andrew Peterson. It is a very dark sounding piano. Here is a shot of the masterminds at work:
We are right on schedule for tomorrow which includes a lot of guitar recording with Ben & Kent, and the last 2 bass and drum tracks. Hopefully we'll be as productive and on-time as today!
